Why was I banned?

I would like an explanation as to why I was banned. My player name is "f*ck Islam". Before this happened I already asked two GDIC members if my name was a problem because some kid had complained about me, and they said I was not in violation. So what is going on?

NO {GDIC} or =GDIC= member EVER said you were NOT in violation as long as I or you were in-game. DON'T be putting any incriminating words into any members mouths.

You hav been asked to change your game name simply for the fact you will obvioulsly offend Islamic faith ppl, and possibly Christian/Catholic/Jewish etc. etc. faiths, too. GDIC servers does NOT tolerate any racism whether it is "right or wrong" "justified or not justified". You were also asked to speak (send a PM) to one of our clan seniors to determine if you were "IN DIRECT VIOLATION" of any race and/or religion discrimination.

YOU obviously did NOT listen. You should have dealt w/ it before {GDIC|Hangman got into your sights. His gamename says it all. Your own fault for NOT listening to any admin or regular clan members whom did recommend you change your gaming name and/or to speak privately to one of our senior members. Clan servers are FAIR, EQUAL, and FUN servers, and are not intended for any advertising and/or expressing political and/or religious opinions about other cultures through gamename and/or in-game chat whether it is "right or wrong" "justified or not justified".

Every player is considered & respected EQUALLY, and NOT <booted> unless they cross certain server rule boundaries.

You can try to get back in, but you hav to use a different game name, avoid adding your religious opinions in-game chat, and do alot of butt-kissing (via forum PM, private message here or Skype) to our senior members, including most of all Hangman. GL getting back in.

This is a very precise thing to say, but HOW exactly does my name promote "racism"? As you may know Islam is an ideology, it is not a distinct race of people so my name cannot possibly be racist. I have also self-censored my name so that it is not over the top.

Furthermore, I asked you and Shootme straight up if I was breaking any rules and you did not give me a straight answer, as you said you simply gave me a "recommendation" while Shootme said he had no problem with me. This ambiguity led me to think I was NOT in violation. I think before Hangman banned me he should have sent some kind of a warning or told me I was in direct violation; in fact I had not received ANY warnings saying that I would be banned for my name.

punisher07, I would suggest just to prevent further trauma, to change your name. I personally have no problem with it, and I know you are against Islam, but you do have to be careful in that you may offend someone by it. It may not be your intention, but that is what the Admins are trying to do. They are here to try their best to keep the server friendly to everyone in all walks of life, although people from Victoria may be hanged.

I see no problem with punisher07, however if I were you, I would make it more like "The Punisher," "Mr. Punisher," or maybe even just "Punisher."

I respect your opinion, but I would like to point out that people have freewill and they can therefore choose to or choose not to get offended. However, what is important is that people should be given the right to express themselves. I am not here to offend Muslims, I just simply have a personal opinion regarding the hate-filled ideology that they adhere to. If someone is offended by my gaming name, they should realize that it is just my own personal opinion and that they have every right to respectfully disagree with me and just keep it at that. I don't go on that server to pick fights and debate with Islamists on the chat, I just go on there to play COD4 like everybody else on that server, that is the only activity that I am interested in engaging in...trust me. I understand that these COD4 servers are loosing traffic gradually as people move on to the latest games, I just want to enjoy this game while i still can before it fades way into the dust, that is why I humbly ask the admins to reconsider this ban.

I understand your view but you need to realize that we do not encourage any religious or political discussion. A game server is not the place for it. It simply leads to polarization. Without getting into debate on what is right or wrong, lets do what we came together to do, play the game. We have members from half the world across, from all walks of life, different cultures, different beliefs but we all share the same love of gaming so lets keep it simple. I'll update you with the results soon but you might have to pick a different alias, sorry but that is how we think.

Just because I wasnt absolutely positive I looked it up and you may want to have a look at this link, or any others for that matter. I dont want this to get turned into a debate over religion because this isn't the place for it. To be honest, as much as I can appreciate you expressing yourself or that its you right to do so, but why be so set on a name thats just going to cause problems? As you can see you may have to change your name if you want to play on this server. I guess will have a discussion in our admin forums. Will get back to you.

I do see your point and I have no problem with you having that opinion. The way things are, however, is that someone may get offended by it. It sounds like some people already have.

One thing about things like this is it is much easier to change yourself than change others. I personally fully respect your opinion. It is your right to hold your position on the matter, but as soon as you make public your opinion, you are spreading your opinion and that is where people get offended.

Anything that is a set of ideas that discusses the actions and expectations of a group of people is an ideology, most "religions" are.

Where have I caused problems, what is the crime that I have committed??? Maybe I have irked and played with the sensitivities of some Jihadists who have played on the server, but I think most people will agree that in this day and age that that is not a crime. The only person whose ever commented negatively on my name was some player named "Akeem Allah", this Islamic supremacist cussed me out and threatened me. I am really sorry that I have hurt his feelings lol, I hope he doesn't get a mob together and start burning cars or destroying public property as is the custom for Muslims in Western countries when they get their feelings hurt. I feel sorry for Denmark, one brave Dane decides to publish a Muhammed cartoon as is his right and the entire country turns into a warzone.....at least the Europeans are coming to their senses now, but that is a different discussion.

Whatever your decision I will respect it, and if I have to I will go somewhere else. I will say however that it was a pleasure to game with you guys, I have played on Bashhouse for over 3 years now and I have had a blast. Thank you for everything.

Just tossing in my 2 cents,

I think Punisher should get a second chance, on the condition that he changes his name. He seems like a reasonable enough fellow. It seems dangerous to me if we allow slurs for one categorization and not another. It is of my opinion that ethnicity, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, sex and other forms of group identification should just be off-limits in general. That way there is no ambiguity for what is allowed and what isn't and so that we don't appear to be playing favorites with one group over another.

We can still trash-talk without the need to go into polarizing topics such as these.

This reminds me of the time my brother used my profile posing with the name Sieg Heil, which caused heaps of problems for not only myself but several players in the server for about a week.

exactly ........ racial names and offensive names should not be allowed ... such as anal , fart, dick , balls , noob , vag , boobs , tits , and other body part names ..
theres just no need for it ....

you must remember that you have young players playing on your server , regardless of what age the game is rated at ..
